The flavor of Sangre de Toro outshines kidney beans in any recipe. It’s prized throughout Latin America, but makes a terrific blank canvas for any cuisine – from Indian to Creole.

Repeat purchase

I don't use beans all that often, but these are now a 3x repeat purchase for me. I'm not a bean expert, but I appreciate that they get nice and plump but also retain their shape even after a (very) long cooking process in my chili recipe. I haven't cooked them solo yet to get a real "taste test", but I have managed to go through 2 packages already, while some of my other Primary Beans (less suited for chili) remain shelved.

As a layman, these are my favorite beans so far.

Truly Outshines Kidney Beans

Made these in a pressure cooker then used for the Frijoles Colorados (but I veganized the recipe). Love the flavor, a great hearty bean for stews, creamy and delicious.

Best little red bean I know!

I love these Sangre de Toro beans. They may be small but packed with a powerhouse of flavor. Goodbye to the regular (organic) red kidney beans I use to get from the local natural food store, which are fine but somewhat lacking in comparison. These gems are fresher, tastier, cook quickly on the stovetop in my well used flameware clay pot while keeping their shape, and now my very favorite red bean.

Outstanding!

I love these petite beans, they cook up such a rich hearty broth and are the perfect bean for all my rice & beans cravings.

Absolutely Delicious!

These beans are so much better than any store bought variety that I’ve tried. They are fresh, the texture is wonderful and not mushy. Must try!

The perfect general purpose red bean

I absolutely love Sangre de Toro beans! Great flavor, small (but substantial), cook up quickly in a stovetop pressure cooker (35 minutes high pressure, 15 minute natural release), and most importantly, they come from a fabulous company!

Most recently, I used these beans as a supplement to my favorite Carne Adovada recipe. Really took it to a higher plane. Finished with chopped onion, cilantro, a squeeze of lime, and a dollop of sour cream...heaven.

Nice earthy beans that meet all your red bean needs

I'm constantly coming across recipes that use kidney beans (Indian, South American, etc) that I want to make, but I've never been too impressed with red kidney beans. Now I've found a lovely, earthy bean that can replace them. Thanks Primary Beans!
