While bean production has declined and farms have gotten bigger through consolidation, Chris stands out as an innovator – perfecting his rotations of vine-type baby butter beans and rice, and preserving Speckled Bayo beans, a rare variety his father once grew. His careful growing methods nurture the land and produce beans far richer in flavor.

My folks always planted a couple of roes of Speckled Bayo beans in our garden as it was our favorite bean. In recent years it has been more difficult to find and I was so please to find a new supplier in Primary Beans as it is an outstanding soup bean!

It's All Good

ALL the beans from Primary are good. I can't use any other bean now. I used the speckled bayo beans in a cajun red bean and rice dish recipe. It was inspired from the recipe on the website. The beans held their own in my spicy dish!

Best I’ve found

I sprout all my beans and It has been a struggle for me to find beans fresh enough for sprouting. I have bought beans at Smith’s, Natural Grocers, Amazon, and other online retailers. None have been anywhere near as good as Primary Beans😊
