Why we chose it
Cranberry beans, with their striking maroon speckles and ultra creamy texture, are the ultimate gateway to becoming a bean person. They're a celebrated staple in countless cuisines, from hearty Northern Italian stews to vibrant Mexican moles. As the leaves turn golden and the air crisps, we think Cranberry offers a comforting warmth and richness that perfectly embodies the spirit of fall. Whether simmered as brothy beans or tossed in a warm salad, their nutty taste and rich broth makes them the ideal ingredient to celebrate the season's bounty.
The sourcing backstory
A Primary Beans farmer since our inception, Fran Arbogast’s expertise and passion have been both a guiding light and a source of inspiration. Fran's dedication to beans extends beyond her fifth-generation farm – as a registered dietitian, she has the unique ability to champion the many health benefits of eating beans. Her resilience and innovation have allowed her to thrive in an industry where many farms in her area have sadly disappeared. Fran focuses on growing improved and flavorful bean varieties, sourced from nearby Michigan State University, ensuring the freshest and tastiest beans reach bean enthusiasts through her diverse domestic and international channels.
